Music Magazine Front Page - 2nd Draft

After analysing my questionnaire I have now made a 2nd attempt to design a more professional outlook in regards to my music magazine front cover. I have used many elements within in design as well as Photoshop to construct my music magazine page and I have created an enhanced version of my music magazines. Below is the image of my front cover magazine that I have constructed as well as the positive aspects that makes my music magazine professional and appealing to my target demographic. Additionally I have included the negative aspects about the page that I will need to consider and approve upon within my final mock up.

Positive Aspects:
  • I have included additional features displayed around my page promoting certain contents within the magazine. Examples include the "FREE POSTER" and "SPECIAL 16 PAGE COLECTORS EDITION". This suggest that the magazine has a lot to promote and therefore the reader is more likely to buy my product.
  • I have displayed different fonts and different size text, for example the text "IMM" is seen to be the largest and most dominant part of the text which suggests that this is the name of the magazine. The different fonts within the layout makes my magazine seem stand out and eye-catching to the reader.
  • I have displayed a certain house style,  representing the colours yellow, black and white presuming that these colours will be use on most pages within the magazine itself.
  • I have manipulated the image of my main artists i.e. black and white, making him appear more attractive and most dominant on the front cover.
  • There is a barcode displaying the price of my product and date of issue release located near the top my the front page.
Negative Aspects:
  • I have a white coloured background which makes my page appear less striking and desirable to look at.
  • The mise en scene, for example the costume on my artists does not fit the suited genre of indie rock. Therefore other clothing is needed to be placed on my artists to make my magazine cover fitted to its genre.
